BuffaloBrave Artwork 1

This past Tuesday, upstart Buffalo MC ChaunSAY Mackin’ dropped an LP entitled Buffalo Brave. The tape features minimal guest appearances. However, the one song that does feature other MCs is one of the tape’s shimmering highlights. On “Everything’s Black”, ChaunSAY enlists two equally dangerous wordsmiths – Tia P. and Obie Iyoha (from Inglewood, CA and Ann Arbor, MI, respectively) for a 3-minute lyrical showcase. Check it out below, and be sure to check out Buffalo Brave.

Buffalo Bill - EP

Buffalo, New York’s prodigy, ChaunSAY Mackin’ and Maryland beatsmith, Chisom Uzosike join forces to deliver one of the hottest EPs of Spring 2014. Noble Black Society presents Buffalo Bill (named for ChaunSAY’s hometown) – a lively synthesis of colorful, eclectic samples and witty, effortless wordplay. This 7-track collaboration is what Mortal Kombat fans would call a “Flawless Victory”. Buffalo Bill is a lethal combination that will slay you before you even realize what happened…So spark up and enjoy the show!

For the past month I’ve been hard at work, helping to create this work of art. It’s hard to describe just how excited I am to finally get to share it with all of you. HUGE shout out to ChaunSAY Mackin’, and everyone who helped to make our tape happen.

SICKERTHANYOURAVG Presents: Sangoma: The African Beat Tape

26 Dec

Sangoma Artwork

Many of you know (or don’t know) that along with writing about and promoting Hip-Hop music and culture, I also produce it. In fact, I’ve been producing it longer than I’ve been writing about it! For the past few months, I’ve been particularly busy putting together a special beat tape…one that fuses African music and Hip-Hop. Like many of you, I grew up listening to music from Africa. Some of the samples you’ll hear on this tape take me back to my early childhood years. I hope this little collection of instrumentals takes you to a happier place as well. Let me not talk too much. I humbly present to YOU…Sangoma: The African Beat Tape.
